Terrorists who want to buy guns have friends on Capitol Hill - Washingtonpost.com - May 6, 2010

By George W. Bush's standard -- you're either with us or against us in the fight against terrorism -- NRA chief Wayne LaPierre should be just a few frequent-flier miles short of a free ticket to Gitmo right about now. Seems he and the rest of the gun lobby are fighting for terrorists' right to buy firearms.

The Bush administration urged Congress to pass a law barring people on the terrorist watch list from buying explosives and guns. The gun lobby objected. Now the Obama administration is urging Congress to pass the same legislation, and the gun lobby continues to object.

Because anyone, even you can be marked as a potential terrorist as soon as your name goes on a no-fly list. Just read these articles. Anyone they wish to be on this list can be put on, and that could result in thousands of citizens who really aren't terrorists to be banned from buying a gun which is a right every U.S. citizen has from our constitution.

Remember that the way this no-fly list works is not realistic. There are not 1,000,000 threats like the list states. This list keeps going up in number by thousands and thousands of people each year. The agenda is that if the elite/government powers and people behind the scene can't break the constitutional amendments to prevent citizens from bearing arms, then they will use the excuse of terrorism and put people on watch lists to accomplish their agenda.

NRA hates America? O_o how did you get that from that article?
Way to sensationalize something.

Because preventing the purchase or sale of firearms to anyone not certified incompetent or a convicted criminal can be rapidly expanded to include anyone in a particular political party or church. This would give our home grown GESTAPO, aka Homeland Security, way too much power.

I believe ALL the current restraints on firearms such as the 1934 Law be repealed and let each citizen buy or sell any type of firearm or other weapon they want. I also think the Law should state that the person firing the weapon is completely and personally responsible for whatever damage or benefit the bullet does.

With complete freedom comes complete responsibility.

Odd - I always thought it was more the NRA haters who hate America. Then again it looks like you posted an opinion article anyway so I guess the author is free to slant things pretty much however they want.

Enough innocent people have fallen victim to the "no fly list." A list of people who are barred from exercising a right protected under our constitution without trial or conviction of a serious crime, does not belong in America. Bloomberg, Schumer and Lautenberg are merely looking for backdoor gun control.

If a terrorist were to buy a bunch of weapons from a US gun dealer, and use them to commit an act of terrorism, somehow it will be Obama's fault for letting a terrorist buy a gun.

This sounds like a thinly veiled attempt to drastically regulate and limit the sale of firearms. Anyone could conceivably end up as a "designated terrorist"--veterans, people who support the Constitution, prolifers, militia members--not to mention the thousands of people who are mistakenly on the No Fly list.

"the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed"

Sadly, as GregW pointed out, infringement has been taking place for far too long.

You are aware that EVERYONE buys and has explosives all around them right? Even a crude understanding of chemistry, living in an average house, can be dangerous and make one a "terrorist" if the government thugs choose to railroad you.

There's millions of people in jail because they possessed a plant that grows naturally in the wild.
