Untrue. The design should be looked upon a patent. See the emphasis on treating the flag as a living entity. Modified designs resembling the theme are acceptable, but not the actual design of the flag imposed or modified in a way to mutilate it's full meaning.

KevK, Is that jacket made of a real flag, or is it a printed flag made as a jacket?

The thing there is if you hacked a real flag, then I personally consider that disrespectful to warriors before you. If it is a print of the flag and never was a flag, they you earn a point of respect from me for wearing it. Not that you care what I think. Bit in the street iif i saw you I would smile and nod approvingly.. whether or not you liked it.

It's never been right, and these kids aren't nearly as guilty as the adults selling the apparel. People have been careless and ignorant. I strongly disagree that we should alter this regulation of respect to accommodate anyones free speech, no matter who they are.

I am not understanding you, but I want too.

An example is I have a embrodered flag on my riding vest, a part of a black leather jacket. This is a patch that ever was a flag. It looks like a flag, but never was a flag. So as far as I know it is honor of the flag I can wear, like is on my sons battle dress and on cops and fire fighters uniforms and etc...

What is the difference between the way you see things and they way I see them?

The boys came to Live Oak High School on the Mexican holiday, wearing t-shirts, shorts and shoes emblazoned with American flags.
In this case, I don't see as the flag itself being an issue but the obvious reason to wear them by a group of students (along with bandanas) is. On internet boards, such behavior is classified as trolling and often banned.

It was bought as it is. It is a flag jacket but not really a "flag" because it does not have all the stars or stripes a real flag has. It is a "flag design" basically. I have a flag on our fireplace that my dad bled for in Korea so I do not take lightly to any disrespect of the flag. But I do get tired of the "flag police" telling people how to be "flag pure". If somebody leaves the flag on their house at night without a spotlight, while it might not follow the rules of flag purity, I do not consider it disrespectful in any way because it is obvious that it was not the intent of the person to disrespect the flag.

As long as there are people that are outraged by the unconventional actions of a few, the few will continue to do them.

(in between the many pages of outrage, there has been a couple of good discussions on the issue...............so there is still hope in C-D!)
