The boys came to Live Oak High School on the Mexican holiday, wearing t-shirts, shorts and shoes emblazoned with American flags.
Around 10 a.m., the assistant principal told sophomore Matthew Dariano he had to remove his bandana, which is against school policy.
But then Dariano said the assistant principal told all him and all his friends to take off their shirts, or turn them inside out, because some Hispanic students were upset and the school feared it would start a fight.
Dariano is part Mexican.

More than 100 students were spotted wearing red, white and green as they were leaving school. Some had the Mexican flag painted on their faces or on their arms. (http://www.gilroydispatch.com/news/265404-five-morgan-hill-students-sent-home-for-wearing-american-flag-t-shirts - broken link)

Maybe the principal had good reason to think that some of his students would react to flag attire on May 5 and he was trying to keep a lid on any potential confrontations. It may have been a hard decision for him to make but likely he thought he was acting in the students' best interest. I don't necessarily agree with his decision but I can understand that maybe he was just trying to stop trouble before it began. Anyway, it ended well with the school board overriding the principal's decision.

Maybe there should be a constitutional amendment that says it's okay to wear the American flag.

It's amazing that these proud Mexicans who can tolerate no flag but their own country's flag make such a fuss when someone suggests they be returned home to their beloved country. The minute someone wants to help them find their way home, they'll start insisting that Mexico is worse than hell on earth. Hypocrits.

School board decisions always come too late, so it doesn't make any difference. They just issue these proclamations so that their asses are covered and protected from litigation.
I hope the AntiChrist Lawyers Union steps in for those kids, this is something that should be taken up by them.
