With bigger gov comes less personal freedom. You cant have bigger gov and have the same amount of freedom. When you have gov telling you what you can and cant do you have less freedom and the list of what you can and cant do is only growing longer by the day

We are becoming slaves to this gov. We will have to work more to have less to pay for the gov spending.
Don't look now, but the government grew faster during the administrations of Reagan and the two Bushes than at any other time in the history of the country.

Equal rights did not apply to everyone. Mom stayed home and Dad worked. And they finished off every night with a martini.

In the 60's the Country fractured apart over an unwinable war. If you disagreed with the government, you were a commie. The Cold War still ruled our lives. People died fighting for equal rights. Mom got tired and burned her bra. Enlightened people finished off the night with a joint. Assasinations became commonplace.

In the 70's we left Viet Nam. It was okay to to disagree with the government because our President broke the law and we finally figured out we had been lied to for years. We sat in gas lines. Saw our citizens kidnapped. Figured out we still weren't equal. We endured disco.

In the 80's it was all about ME. MTV gave us mini-movies. Computers invaded our homes. Cell phones popped into our lives. Greed took over our lives. Who cared about being equal. It had to be about ME.

In the 90's we became human again. No ME. Another war. We won. Electronics started to control our lives. We started to prosper. It was okay to be President and lie about infidelity. You could be impeached and stay in office.

In 2001 our hearts were broken. We were unified in anger and grief. A part of us died. We were at war again. Our hatred towards each other reared it's evil head again. We lost hope. Our men and women died. We became fractured again.

Through all of these good and bad times, I have been an American citizen and proud of it. My country isn't perfect. It never really has been. But it's the best one around. I think I'll keep it.
Ummmm a martini sounds good right about now!

4. Not being allowed to ride around in cars without seat belts.

There have always been lots of rules. You have to drive on the right side of the road. You have to stop at a red light. You have to go at a green light. If you work in an office, you have to follow the company's policies or be fired. If you live in a neighborhood, you have to obey zoning laws and perhaps other restrictions on what you can do with your home. If you don't pay your bills, the bank can take your house. If you litter, you get a fine. That's always been the case.

You can basically do every important thing that you used to do.
You can criticize the government.
You can protest.
You can vote.
You can pretty much go and shape your destiny in terms of which career you want to pursue (outcomes not guaranteed).
You can be a vegetarian, vegan, meatatarian, or pretty much whatever else you want.
You can be fit or you can sit on your ass and watch TV.
You can have your guns.
You can oppose guns.
You can be straight.
You can be gay.
You can be whatever religion you want to be.
You can be single.
You can be married and have 10 kids.
You can invest in stocks.
You can waste all your money on gambling.

Get the picture? That's a lot more than you can do in a lot of other countries.

Most of you probably don't do half as much as what you could do with your lives in this country, anyway, except for spending your time bitching on here.

Quit complaining about everything just because a black Democrat is in office. We'll survive just fine.

Things are not perfect, but they're ok.
the next freedom to go will be religion and guns.............
