You would think those who want to drive this country in that direction would take note of exactly what has caused the meltdown of social welfare states.

And to think that there are people out there who still support it.

That blog's top story on its front page is now:

Change! Obama Census Worker Rapes & Beats Handicapped Woman (Video)

LOL! "Obama Census Worker".... about as bright as "Europe is in financial trouble because of socialism."

It is Obama's Census Worker. How come you Obot supporters are so uninformed? He likes it that way I suppose, so you are doing your duty by following through for him. Obama took control of the Census, so yes, they are his people. So you think socialism hasn't caused any of the problems Europe is facing? If you feel that way, what is causing it? If socialism is such a great system, how come they are in such bad shape?

here's a similar article, but one that hopefully won't trigger loozy's ADD

RealClearPolitics - The Welfare State's Death Spiral
What we're seeing in Greece is the death spiral of the welfare state. This isn't Greece's problem alone, and that's why its crisis has rattled global stock markets and threatens economic recovery. Virtually every advanced nation, including the United States, faces the same prospect. Aging populations have been promised huge health and retirement benefits, which countries haven't fully covered with taxes. The reckoning has arrived in Greece, but it awaits most wealthy societies.

Good thing those articles both forget to mention anything regarding tax evasion.

Greece Grapples With Tax Evasion - WSJ.com

Even the WSJ noted that it was a major issue. The fact that the articles posted that they don't have a revenue problem is blatantly false.

When a country taxes people at such high levels, it's inevitable that people will cheat. It costs the government more money to claim this part of the tax than it is to let it go. It's called the cost of doing business.

I think the Republicans in Congress should use the current situation in Greece
as a poster child for the direction our President is pushing us in.

I agree, people shouldn't be punished for breaking the law, especially if they're rich.

It would be interesting to see conservatives that are as adamant about punishing tax evaders as they are illegal immigrants.
