The last time I had to go to the emergency room was seven years ago. It cost my $500 (I was not insured and all I had was a very bad sprained ankle that I thought was broken). My friend went last weekend for something quite a bit more serious that involved needing tests and scans (and is insured thank God) her bill was $10,000.
