If America is 80% Christian, how can 20% non Christian be in charge of whether or not Seniors can say grace out loud before recieving food that was paid for with tax money from the 80% that are Christian?
Please don't say separation of Church and state. We are talking about food and saying grace before a meal.
I read the article mentioned in the other thread...and they simply replaced a led CHRISTIAN prayer with a moment of silence. Why is that such a big deal? It includes everyone (even those who don't pray) and let's everyone have a moment of peace before partaking in a meal together.
Because the 80% that paid for that meal know that you say grace out loud and together.
If you don't want to pray, don't.
Why are the few always the ones that have it their way?
mag--this is how over powering our government has gotten. Only the people can stop this type of attack on our way of life. Pass this on to others so they understand where this attack comes from and why.

The percentages you quote are misleading. Remember what Billy Sunday once said, "Going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than going to a garage makes you an automobile."

Riiight, because 80% of the nation sits down and prays before every meal. The only reason that 80% number is so high is because of people who are only Christian because that's what they're 'supposed' to be. I wonder how many of those 80% have never cracked open a bible, or only go to church on Christmas and Easter, if at all.
And what you're essentially saying is that if you have money, you should be able to force everyone to believe in what you want them too...sounds a little sketchy to me.
Why not include EVERYONE? Is your belief so shaky that you have to receive affirmations out loud, even from those who don't believe the same as you? Is it so bad that including a Jewish person could somehow rock your faith? Or maybe that scaaaary pagan who wants to quietly thank mother earth for the bounty she provided?
The other 20% is growing...and we're not going to be pushed around by Christians anymore.

This has been covered in other threads before.
But the short answer is Wallace v. Jaffree, 105 S. Ct. 2479 (1985)
"State's moment of silence at public school statute is unconstitutional where legislative record reveals that motivation for statute was the encouragement of prayer. Court majority silent on whether "pure" moment of silence scheme, with no bias in favor of prayer or any other mental process, would be constitutional."
In other words, think whatever religious beliefs you want, but don't openly try to "encourage" others to do the same, at least on the public dime. If you disagree, take it up with the Supremes. And no, we don't make public policy based on the majority religion. For that, you want a Theocracy... try 3rd aisle over, right next to Fascism.

It's not 20%
It's one company that, hopefully mistakenly, believes that its federal funding & it's cash flow could be cut off if they allow organized prayer before the socialist taxpayer paid meal.
Hmmmm. Wonder how Congress gets away with opening session with prayer...instead of a moment of silence.
