I strongly oppose both medicare and social security.

I am taxed for these "benefits", but will never see a dime.

They should make these programs optional, such that all the socialists can support one another (yeah, right) and all the the self sufficient working people can be left alone to simply support themselves. It would eliminate the need to break up the nation into capitalistic and communistic America in the future.

The problem is that all the dependent slugs will not let us go and demand that the productive continue to support the non productive. This ponzi scheme cannot go on forever, as history has shown. Better grow a pair, become self sufficient, and embrace the principles that made the nation great. Those priniciples did not mean "equal outcomes" and "redistribution of wealth" , but only equal opportunity. That opportunity still remains for those with initiative. Those who have succumbed to despair and lack initiative crave the "comforts" of the socialist trough and are more than willing to sacrifice thier personal liberty for the "treats" being passed out by this system.

I fully support voluntary charity, and caring for the sick and aged.
I am opposed to compulsory charity, under threat, duress, and coercion of government.

"No one should suffer because they lack {fill in the blank}" must always be prefaced by "No one should be compelled to labor for the benefit of another so that..."

Slavery is never an acceptable solution to the ills of mankind.

I think cutting welfare in general would create stronger families and more entrepreneurial spirit.
When SS started, I am told that the first beneficiaries never paid into the system so it always depended on people paying into the system to cover those on it. Somewhat like a ponzi scheme.

What about the disabled and those unable to take care of themselves, like elderly? I think communities would step up to help people like this, though possibly not.

I think states should be allowed to set up welfare systems, people can move if they don't like it. You can't move away from the federal government.

Same thing as paying into a universal health care system and getting back your money through the health care, it's socialism.

Also, you are paying for people on SS now, not toward your SS in the future. From what I know. SS is already in the red.

I disagree..welfare and food stamps are socialism. Take the money from those that have it and give it to those that don't.

Yes I understand that but that is not my fault. That is the government's fault for not being a prudent investor with my money.
