....."Somalia’s transitional government called on Russia on Friday to explain why it had cut 10 Somali pirates adrift in the Gulf on Aden without navigation equipment or much hope of survival.

Russian forces last week stormed a hijacked oil tanker in a rescue operation that killed one pirate. Russia said 10 others arrested were later set loose aboard one of the small vessels they used in the attack.

A military official said they were stripped of their weapons and navigation equipment. Russian media later quoted a military source saying the pirates were now likely dead....."

Interesting article. If the pirates of Somalia do retaliate against Russian ships---and I bet they will---we haven't heard the last of this kind of thing.

“We will deal with Russians unlike other hostages. We never think about harming a hostage, but we will reconsider that, and respond the same way their navies respond to us.” said Isse, a pirate commander in the coastal town of Hobyo, told Reuters.

And they will soon find out that the Russians do not share the same concern for legal niceties, the sanctity of life and human rights that they have come to expect from the West.

Well, I for one, say good for Russia! I am sure it's not a popular opinion, however, with 60% brought to trial and being released/aquitted, it may be the only way to stop this.

that's awesome. who cares if those backwards savages didn't have any navigation equipment? they had no respect for people's lives as they were hijacking ships.

white people have got so weak in the past 70 years, they used to own the world and build everything in it. now they are scared to hurt the feelings of some third world savage living in filth.

Absolutely nothing in my post indicated that, did it? How on earth did you jump to that erroneous conclusion? My post was extremely neutral.

+1.

Bind their hands behind their backs, have the Captain exercise Maritime law, and make the walk the plank. Or roll them off with a hole in their heads.

Consequences and actions. They try to board and steal, they sacrifice their life. Plain and simple.
