Yup, and there is no proof that its caused by mankind either, but it is a political issue. Oh, and there are trillions of dollars to be made in pushing man-made global warming too.

Is that you Barry Lynn?

How much are taxpayers paying for what Barry Lynn, Executive Director of American's United calls "federally subsidized employment discrimination?" According to Daniel Zwerdling who produced two programs on faith-based initiative for Bill Moyers TV show NOW in September, 2003, "administration spokesmen say they can't break down how much money has gone so far to religious groups .. they claim they don't keep that information."

Default This amounts to taking over just another area of our lives

That appears to be the direction the administration is moving. Not too long ago Obama was making fun of right wing religious zealots holding onto their Bibles. Now he needs them. The WH will use the churches as long as they are needed, then throw them all under the bus.

They deliberated over months of proceedings and dozens of conference calls and developed more than 60 consensus recommendations.

The Council’s recommendations included:
[list]
Providing greater clarity on guidelines for how religious charities receive and utilize government funds to provide social services;

"guidelines" will mean direction and control

Encouraging government to work with faith and community-based groups to streamline access to benefits for the unemployed and the most vulnerable;

With Government being the largest employer in the nation, with layers of bureaucracies and agencies upon agencies, they're saying they can't provide "access to benefits for the unemployed and most vulnerable"? Why not simply allow faith based groups to go on and do their own thing, as they have been doing for years? They do it far more effectively.

Promoting strategic partnerships between Fortune 500 companies, community organizations,[/b] domestic violence groups, veterans and those in the Fatherhood field to promote responsible father engagement in the lives of children; and

Churches better beware what parnerships they will be funnelled into, and with whom, and how much control they will have to hand over to whomever runs the partnerships. At that rate, they will have to change Who they answer to. Not a good sign for ANY faith based organization.
[*]Bringing the power of 370,000 houses of worship across the country to the fight of climate change by greening buildings and promoting environmental stewardship in their congregations.

Churches have been teaching and preaching good stewardship in their congregations all along. Government is acting like this is something new? Where have they been?

I wonder if the same people who were worried back in 2004 about Bush, are still concerned today, or is it okay now because their guy is the one in the White House, and "Wink- wink, we know 0bama isn't really pushing religion, he pushes green energy and global warming"?
It's not possible to partner with evil, and emerge unsullied. The Administration is trying to hijack the churches, and take control. Wonder what the WH will say when the churches want to preach the Gospel among those they "partner with" ? Interesting thought

I thougt it was odd that Pelosi called out the churches to help with a political position, but she is an odd person all around.

I believe in seperation, which means I disagreed with her actions.

Or maybe Rick Warren just doesn’t find it unethical on the part of leadership in Uganda to execute HIV positive gay people, incarcerate the rest for life, ban any form of activism that might object, and jail those family, friends, or acquaintances who fail to report their gay loved ones to the government.

On Meet the Press this morning he spoke a good game of loving gay people (while fighting against their rights). But though he declared that his “role is to love everybody” (which presumably would include gay Ugandans), this love seems not to stretch quite enough to oppose their execution and life-long incarceration

Wrong! Not a single one you listed is a political issue, those are all universally held ideals.

- Providing greater clarity on guidelines for how religious charities receive and utilize government funds -

I didn't even know religious charities received government funds When did this start happening?

Just looked this up. "The government gave more than $1 billion in 2003 to organizations it considers 'faith-based,' with some going to programs where prayer and spiritual guidance are central…" recently reported Laura Meckler, AP writer.

Never knew that. Why is the government giving any money
to faith based programs
