I was against faith based under Bush, and now looks like Obama is turning into Bush, with his faith based plan. Where is the separation of church & state????????
If it was begun by GWB, then I disagree with it as well. it makes no difference- I wasn't a member of CityData during the Bush years or else I would have voiced my opinion on that also.
the point still stands: church and state must be SEPARATE even if for good causes such as charity work. Private charities raise plenty of money anyway, why not just leave them like that?
You are very right about all this. Years ago any faith based talk was ripped and torn by liberals and now all of a sudden the leader of the Secular-Socialist beliefs is trying to use that very thing. It is just as anti-1st Amendment now as it was years ago except for the fact that Obama is at the bottom of it now.
I think ALL faith based initiatives and ANY ties with the church by government should be severed. I don't care who is in office, but the two need to stay as far separated as possible.
Write an e-mail to our Glorious Leader and tell him that both of us think like that.
You can find out plenty about this if you look around. Obama is trying to use religious organizations to work out some of his problems. After all, Rahm and Cass do work for him.
Yes, it was begun under the Bush presidency as a sop to the Religious Right which had done much to put him into office. Remember "compassionate conservatism"?
That's nice you're against it though; so is the ACLU
Maybe you can tell me why Obama is trying to use it today. Madame Pelosi really started it all talking to a group of Roman Catholic clergy the last part of last week and he carried on this weekend.
Those arent "specifically with Obama," except that they were impatient that the OA was taking too long to adjust rules left over from the Bush era.
However, a report from an exec branch advisory council was due out the day that article was published. What were the recommendations? Has agreement been reached?
What was Nasty Nancy trying to get those Catholic priests to do? I heard her trying to get them to push political garbage from their pulpits.
Providing greater clarity on guidelines for how religious charities receive and utilize government funds to provide social services;
Encouraging government to work with faith and community-based groups to streamline access to benefits for the unemployed and the most vulnerable;
Promoting strategic partnerships between Fortune 500 companies, community organizations, domestic violence groups, veterans and those in the Fatherhood field to promote responsible father engagement in the lives of children; and
Bringing the power of 370,000 houses of worship across the country to the fight of climate change by greening buildings and promoting environmental stewardship in their congregations.

As MediaMatters pointed out on May 17, "Guess which one Beck will be focusing on?"
I always wondered where you got some of your stuff and now I learn that it is Media Matters. Do you know that Beck is their primary reason for existence today?
