I heard about it this morning on NPR while driving to work. It's an interesting situation that I'll be looking into later on today when I have some extra time.
I did find this..but it's downplaying outright "war".
More military exercises to show off and some financial hold backs.
NKorea warns of war if punished for ship sinking - Yahoo! News (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100520/ap_on_re_as/as_skorea_ship_sinks - broken link)
it really seems like s. korea has been cowed into taking whatever abuse lil' kim feels like dishing out in order to avoid a war. and pyongyang keeps getting away with it, knowing china has their back.
North Korea has been threatening war since Bush was pres, if not before him.
They have too big of military The U.S is' not going to do anything about it.
I don't think the simple size of the NK military has anything to do with it all. One reason is that they didn't attack a US warship, thus no straight in-your-face threat to the US. Secondly, obama will not prosecute his friends. My opinion.
they kill 46 south korean sailors and there's basically no reaction from the south, and surprisingly little news about it.
what gives?
Basically you are disappointed the US and S. Korea haven't responded militarily in a way someone as brave and tough as you would have the courage to do. You were hoping the Media would see this as a ratings bonanza. Being able to hype the threat of War over some cowardly act on the part of a kooky Dictator.

What is the US supposed to do anything about it with? Take the Iraqi Army over there? Hire an army with Iraqi oil money?
The US military is simply not prepared or equiped to handle a major land war. Period.
