How to take stupid out of democracy.
{courtesy of the Evil Dictator - in - training}
"When the people find they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic."
B. Franklin
For all you fans of democracy, here are some simple tips to take "stupid" out of democracy:

1. Anyone who receives public money or other benefit because of indigence cannot vote. (Beggars cannot be choosers.)

2. Anyone who is in public office cannot vote in general elections. (Conflict of interest.)

3. Anyone who does not pay taxes, cannot vote. (Bring your tax receipts!)

4. Anyone who receives a salary, pension, or other money from the public treasury cannot vote in general elections. (Conflict of interest)

5. All public salary changes shall be by annual referendum:
[] up 1 %
[] down 5 %
[] no change.

6. No member of the judicial branch can serve in the executive or legislative branch (lawyers are banned - conflict with the balance of power).

7. Your idea here _________________

We are not a Democracy. The USA has been a Republic since 1778.

The Progressive movement has tried its dranest over the last 100 years, to turn this nation into a European style Democracy.

Iran is a Democracy. Venezuela is a Democracy. Mexico is a Democracy. Russia is now a Democracy. Do we really want the USA to become a true Democracy? Government down run countries.

The USA is the only one that has ever been a Citizen down to the Government, besides the Republic of Texas.

You should thank George Washington, when he said he did not want to be King of the USA!

It's a common mistake to assume "republic" = "republican form".

REPUBLIC - A commonwealth; That form of government in which the administration of affairs is open to all the citizens. In another sense, it signifies the state, independent of its form of government.
Black's Law Dictionary, Sixth Edition, P. 1302

A republic is not synonymous with a republican form of government. The People's Republic of China is a republic but not a republican form.

GOVERNMENT (Republican Form of Government)- One in which the powers of sovereignty are vested in the people and are exercised by the people, either directly, or through representatives chosen by the people, to whom those powers are specially delegated.
- - - Black's Law Dictionary, Sixth Edition, P. 695

In the republican form, the people are the sovereigns.
In the democratic form, the citizens collectively are the sovereigns.

All Americans have the potential to be sovereigns, at age of majority. But they also can surrender that in exchange for participation in the democracy, as a citizen.
