I think that both groups are full of racial bigots, they just do not act of their views in violent ways anymore.

Using a dialect (any dialect) to ridicule someone does not mean that person is hated for being of a particular race, religion or ethnicity. It is only a convenient means to express dislike of the person (regardless of anything else) and disagreement with what that person is doing.

It's done all the time with other accents and manners of speaking.

faking a dialect in a mocking manner is to ridicule someone. it is rude at best and meant to belittle. what is the difference between "disliking" someone based on their race and being a bigot/racist?

Aren't you a little old to be getting embarassed, roy? I don't even feel embarassed by my own behavior, much less someone else's.

"what is the difference between "disliking" someone based on their race and being a bigot/racist?" Eh? Are we talking about the same thing? The one who posted in a ghetto style of English was using it to express how he feels about Barack Obama, the President (and probably the whole Administration), not Barack Obama, the black man.

dialect: Definition, Synonyms from Answers.com

Dialect: n.
    1. A regional or social variety of a language distinguished by pronunciation, grammar, or vocabulary, especially a variety of speech differing from the standard literary language or speech pattern of the culture in which it exists: Cockney is a dialect of English.
    2. A variety of language that with other varieties constitutes a single language of which no single variety is standard: the dialects of Ancient Greek.
  • The language peculiar to the members of a group, especially in an occupation; jargon: the dialect of science.

Oy, I feel like I'm talking to Janeane Garafalo.

I find it hard to believe that the usage of the "ghetto style' english was doing so in opposition of the admin, but because our pres. is black.
comics and people who want to make fun of an accent is one thing, but our president does not speak this way. making fun of the way the president talks is what they do on SNL, they do not use "ghetto" language.
the only reason to use this type of speech in reference to him or his admin is only meant to demean and belittle
if on the off chance I am wrong it truly shows a lack of maturity on the part of the poster who would think like that, much less post such drivel.
wonder if the poster would like to clarify themselves what the intent was?
