Also the Republican party is the party of Lincoln.
Obviously, shorebaby didn't read the following text in the link:
"The new president, Lyndon Johnson, utilized his experience in legislative politics and the bully pulpit he wielded as president in support of the bill. In his first address to Congress on November 27, 1963, Johnson told the legislators, "No memorial oration or eulogy could more eloquently honor President Kennedy's memory than the earliest possible passage of the civil rights bill for which he fought so long." "
Republicans are useless racist that continue to put a stain on this country.
Sorry, I don't believe that for a second, that a broad brush you wield. I'm not saying you are, but quite often people who use a broad brush are racists themselves.

Obviously pbauer isn't aware that the Republicans broke Byrd's filibuster or that the vast majority (80%+) of republicans voted for it.

Such arguments are about as enlightened as the broad brush fictions promoted by far too many conservative posters and adds nothing constructive to the conversation.
Yes they are, but look at the number of votes from each party. Those southern Democrats that didn''t vote for the bill would be Republicans today. ala Rand Paul (Edit) and his father Ron Paul.
Lincoln and MLK would be flaming liberals by the present right's standards. Put up their views on here regarding states' rights and roles of the federal government. I guarantee accusations of leftist, Marxist, etc come up unless you reveal who held those views.
And the present right loves to neglect the fact the Dixiecrats (not Democrats) all went Republican starting in the Reagan era. Helms, Thurmond, Wallace etc all began endorsing Republicans in the Reagan era.
