Why? We all know SS/Medicare aren't paying enough for the benefits they hand out... so instead you ask that other people pay for it because it is short... why? Shouldn't you reach deeper since you are asking and receiving more benefits?

If we didn't make conservatives pay for it then they would have nothing to whine about and they would be unhappy.

Uh, a ton of old people vote Republican. No politician of either party will ever vote to do away with Medicare or Social Security. Old people vote. This is actually a pretty dumb thread. Please show me any member of Congress from either party who publicly supports doing away with either of those programs.

Actually, you might be able to find one or two, but please tell me why you believe only liberals support these programs.

This. I never realized that only Democrats got Social Security and Medicare benefits when they retired.

That will not be enacted until Obama's second term

I'm curious, which republican Senator or Representative has turned down their lifetime pension or healthcare? I'm sure there's at least one.

Because government is the end all be all to the Left - the bigger the better - and that takes a lot of money.

They feel entitled to your income in order to dispense it to those they think need it more than you...who worked for it.

Social Security>medicare are also favored by conservatives. I've seen plenty of them. I've come across many right wing widows who never worked a day in their lives, yet live very long lives that far exceed what theie deceased husband paid into the system. it is unfair to say that these programs are favored only by libs.
