It's a matter of what's more important to you, if you're truly Christian. To what are you more committed, your earthly goods or your place in God's world as He would have us live? A true Christian would understand this.

Jesus didn't charge tax payers for the services He gave to the poor/blind/sick/illegals. If He had, it might have been a whole other ball game.
