Considering the state has always had some of the best schools in the nation and churns in some of the highest rates of HS grads going Ivy League in the nation, I'd say it's money well spent. So what does Christie do, when they clearly deserve a raise, he cuts benefits and freezes wages.
If he wants to cut other public utilities, I'm fine with it, but education is one of the strong points of the state.
The again him and his cronies will never have to worry about their kids going to declining schools with mass class sizes. Nope. They'll all go to schools like Notre Dame and Don Bosco, get into a good college and when they get back to Jersey the workforce will be a lot thinner being that the less fortunate didn't receive a good education and couldn't get into a good school.
NJ is one of the best educated and affluent states in the country, don't be so surprised our kids achieve.

The Dems had their opportunity to pass the tax and let it go by. That is more of an emotional move... to tax the rich. It is not a long term solution. It does nothing to solve NJ's chronic economic pathology that has been carefully nurtured by generations of self centered politicians, their policies and a challenged electorate.
"And Christie has cut education to new levels here in Jersey. If he wants to cut some things, I'm fine. But education is the last thing that should be cut."
Excellent move!!! Education can stand more cuts. It is up to the NJEA and local boards as to what gets cut. Unfortunately to make their point they both choose to save money where it creates the most emotional impact. A page right out of Jon Corzine's short lived reign.
Tenure is NJ's version of supporting a Royal Family.
There are far too many school districts and administrators. The state schools generate business putting out teachers who need a place to work so in a quid pro quo move we have all the districst and administrators.
CC knows there is no linear relationship between the amount of money spent on education and the quality of education that results.
Unfortunately the NJEA, et al does not know that.
Teachers are too important to be used as shills by the NJEA.
Only in NJ can you round up enough crooked pols in one fell swoop that you need to rent a bus to haul their butts to jail. So let's keep doing what generations of Jerseyans have done to support the bizarre policies of a chronically ill state. If CC gets his way NJ will lose its well deserved reputation as the center of excellence for corruption and high taxes, most of which go to support education.
And 98.9% of New Jersey residents are going to see their taxes raised as a result of this.
Take that up with your local municipality. They are the ones raising your taxes. Hey wait, you don't even own a house, you most likely still live at home, what do you even know about any of this Mr. Pizza Delivery Guy?
And Christie has cut education to new levels here in Jersey. If he wants to cut some things, I'm fine. But education is the last thing that should be cut. This state used to have some of the best public schools in the nation. Don't see that no longer thanks to Christie. He knows him and his cronies can afford to send their kids to private schools, so they can get an education and a job. Meanwhile working class families with children in public schools are getting shafted big time.
Look, you are way too young to even know what you are talking about. You have NO CLUE!! I have lived in NJ my whole life and that is much, much longer than you have. The Democrats ruined this state with the help of one Republican. You think that our schools are some of the best? I guess you're right, but it goes to show how bad our entire country's school systems are. They have gotten so much worse since the teachers were unionized. Christie is doing what needs to be done, but I wouldn't expect a young tyke like yourself would understand any of this.
Let me ask again what tax did Christie raise since he let the temporary tax on the wealthy expire?
Shorebaby, you are arguing with a kid. They are still in college and has no real job, delivers pizza. They know next to nothing about what is going on, so save your finger tips.
I heard on the radio this morning that 35,000 protested this. By comparrison, only 400 showed for a recient Tea Party.
The union is well organized. Hey just look at the SEIU, they get a DC police escort to terrorize children. You don't think the establishment isn't in bed with the unions?

Someone is filling his head with mush. I have to help him see what is really going on.

According to a right-wing columnist (I think George Will) taxes in NJ have gotten so high that millionaires have moved to New York, hardly a tax haven. So maybe taxes have already reached the stomach turning point. What to cut is a tricky subject: I don't think that drastically cutting union workers' wages, as attractive as that sounds, will be enough.
