The thing is I don't consider medicare a socialist program. Neither do I consider public schools local fire and rescue, libraries etc. I am all for-for profit health insurance companies, under national regulation, to compete equally with a one payer system and scrap medicare, medicaid, VA, American Indian health care etc. It will be the best thing that happened to Americans even if they are too young and stupid to realize it or when it's too late.
The Heritage is a right wing rag. Consider the source. I know of one Medicare Advantage that is already asking some of its highly paid "deadwood" management to accept pay cuts in anticipation of the lesser reimbursement. All
of them need to do this. They have overspent on exec salaries for way too long at the expense of the senior citizens on these plans. Now at last, their feet will be held to the fire.
BEAUTIFUL JOB.
Attack the messenger and then prove that you didn't read past finding who the messenger was. Great job, but it proves nothing to me.
I would say that if you are on Medicare now or are going to be before the Obamacare law goes into effect you need to read this. Those who are younger remember that you too may be old some day.
Wow. I don't take any government handouts... But you do. And you call me a socialist? No wonder no one with any brains respects the extremists on the right wing. Hypocrites. All of you.
I have stopped reading Think Progress and Media Matters so I don't know what lies that link contains but I am sure that lots of twisting and turning did take place. Maybe some day I will manage to take time to read some of that well aimed crap, but it will be after lefties start reading and not just attacking my links.
Here's an example of a right winger who claims to be opposed to socialized medicine, then whining on City Data that socialized medcine is being taken away from him.
And you read how many words of my link? Would none be pretty close?

Roy your hypocrisy is with out limits, you are always accussing everyone about not reading your links. But you will not go to links that others post why?the link posted had direct quotes from Becks radio show and a link where you can hear it yourself.
Then you say they are twisting and turning, you have more moves then a fish

roy, are you enrolled in Medicare Advantage?
The Heritage Foundation article is too long and complicated for me, to be honest, and Im not on Medicare so I cant read it and compare from experience. It appears to be mostly scare content, though. I really dont think any of this is going to be as dire as it hopes you will think.
This might explain, or make more confusing, the perpetual Medicare boondoggle. I didnt read it but it looks helpful.
Wow, I think we have found our representation of irony.
To complain daily, vocally, and insult everyone who doesn't hate socialist programs.
Then complain when they don't provide the benefits they should to you!
You would get along with one of my older relatives who does the same thing. I forgive him though, he had a massive stroke.
I had a fairly good heart attack that resulted in 6 by-pass surgery so maybe you could save some of your forgiveness for me, if you tried?
I think that you may find that Medicare isn't as socialist as you think if you could know how much is deducted from my SS check every month to pay for Medicare. I am pretty sure that you don't really know the difference in socialism and socialistic programs in a capitalistic system but then not many of your persuasion know any of this.
All the monster socialist programs you people squeal about like SS and Medicare aren't as much of the redistribution of wealth programs as you want to make them out to be. I paid into SS for nearly 50 years before I took any out and, in fact, I am still paying into it because I am still employed. I pay monthly into Medicare through deduction from my SS check so I do help take care of some of that, also. In a socialist society you will find something entirely different than that.
