"something about money," how ironic from a conservative. Any guess as to why the proposals to tuck drones, more "equipment" and more agents into this bill didnt pass -- and which side was on the side of not wasting money?
Exactly HOW is defending our border wasting money. I guess sitting with their thumbs up their rear is working better for them.

Probably. I dont fall in line with either "side". I have only one side, that of what is best for America and Americans. All the political games make me sick.

You're for putting the best interests of the nation above politics and anything else! Eisenhower was the last president we had with that attitude.

"Clarence Dupnik, the sheriff of Pima County, said there always has been crime associated with smuggling in southern Arizona, but today's rhetoric does not seem to jibe with reality.

"This is a media-created event," Dupnik said. "I hear politicians on TV saying the border has gotten worse. Well, the fact of the matter is that the border has never been more secure."

Leo Federico, 61, a retired teacher, said he has been amazed to hear members of Congress call for National Guard troops in the area.

"That's politics," he said, shrugging. "It's all about votes. . . . We have plenty of law enforcement.""

Violence is not up on Arizona border
I see they didn't take into account the violence AFTER they already cross. Cracks me up when they think the violence is only at the border. How about stopping it altogether by not allowing any in?

Blame it on my dad. His parents came from Germany and were INSANELY proud to become Americans, my dad served two tours so did Uncle...
I hate politics, it is all about money and votes. None of these politicians give a rats azz about us. And what is even more sad, is that the majority of Americans dont see that.

I'm not surprised. German Americans are a loyal group. The fact that they gave strong support to the US during both wars against Germany speaks volumns of their patriotism!!!

They are taking it into account. Crime is down throughout AZ as it is throughout the country.

"Arizona is safer now than it has ever been since 1971, despite contrary claims that have arisen during the current immigration debate."

Violent crime down in Arizona (http://opportunitygreaterphoenix.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=5325& Itemid=831 - broken link)

"It fell 2.4% in long-troubled Detroit and plunged 16.6% in Phoenix, despite a perception of rising crime that has fueled an immigration backlash.
...
In Phoenix, police spokesman Trent Crump said, “Despite all the hype, in every single reportable crime category, we’re significantly down.” Mr. Crump said Phoenix’s most recent data for 2010 indicated still lower crime. For the first quarter of 2010, violent crime was down 17% overall in the city, while homicides were down 38% and robberies 27%, compared with the same period in 2009."

In World War I, no. In World War II, yes. So you're half right.

How about taking care of the demand side (i.e. businesses who hire illegals) or is that too easy?
