When a company like BP conducts reckless projects that destroy our environment and our communities, they should assume full liability for their actions and be held financially responsible for paying any damages. The current liability cap on companies who pose such a threat to our collective safety and livelihood ultimately puts taxpayers on the hook for cleaning up someone elses mess.

I hate to break the news to you, but us tax payers and consumers will pay for this one way or the other.
When a company like BP gets hit with a multi billion dollar clean up penalty, who do you think actually pays? There are only three sources of that money, and they are all from us.
1. BP can cut costs to recoup the money... this is usually salaries of thousands of workers.
2. BP can reduce their profit and cut dividends to stockholders. This hits millions of IRA and 401k savers ... middle America
3. BP can recover the fees in higher prices for their products....this hits millions of Americans who buy gasoline.
So who do you really want to pay the multi billion dollar penalty?
