Is Israel now a rogue state? - mirror.co.uk

I honestly could not find anything from the American media even close to this article and had to resort to the UK press.

We have freedom of the press here, so it makes you wonder why we need to turn to the UK or France to get good coverage of what's going on in Israel.

Our main media outlets here are simply jokes, in print, over the internet or on TV/radio. Just comparing Al Jazeera (English- Americas) home page to CNN's home page is quite revealing of the state of our media. I guess we, Americans, care more about Marilyn Monroe's rare picture with RFK and JFK, the American Idol, Celebrity gossip, divorce attorneys looking at Facebook.

And without even going into quality of journalism, USA ranks pretty low for a "free country" when it comes to freedom of reporting, at about 20, according to Reporters Without Borders index. And Israel is towards the bottom, and in good company when it comes to its extra-territorial rankings (150 out of 175) and 93 for Israeli territory.

PS. Press Freedom Index - 2009

Israel:
As regards its internal situation, Israel sank 47 places in the index to 93rd position. This nose-dive means it has lost its place at the head of the Middle Eastern countries, falling behind Kuwait (60th), United Arab Emirates (86th) and Lebanon (61st). Israel has begun to use the same methods internally as it does outside its own territory. Reporters Without Borders registered five arrests of journalists, some of them completely illegal, and three cases of imprisonment. The military censorship applied to all the media is also posing a threat to journalists.

USA:

The United States has climbed 16 places in the rankings, from 36th to 20th, in just one year. Barack Obama’s election as president and the fact that he has a less hawkish approach than his predecessor have had a lot to do with this. But this sharp rise concerns only the state of press freedom within the United States... Despite a slight improvement, the attitude of the United States towards the media in Iraq and Afghanistan is worrying.

Lets see. I am an American and have heard this term describe to Israel for years, but you are British and are just now learning about. However, your press is somehow more free???

Perhaps, it is not your press, but your inability to do simple research. Here is just one example of the press saying America and Israel are rogue states from 6 years ago.

Perhaps if EinsteinsGhost wasn't so caught up in other American viewing habits, he would also be aware of this. Instead, he rather blame entertainment for ignorance.

No, they are far from a rogue state and i would rather live in Israel than in some of their neighbors. But this latest escapade has backfired big time on them.

I didn't read the article, but--now??

Israel has been a rogue state since they reneged on UN Resolution 194 immediately following their admission to the UN General Assembly in 1949. (That's not to mention Resolutions 242, 338, etc. etc.)

Everyone who has a glancing familiarity with international law knows Israel is a rogue state. The only point of differentiation is what excuse they make for it.
