I have always been a chevy man, I like the company
but GM did this to them selves. they are the ones who since the early 80's have screwed them selves
one of the biggest problem is that they are a CONGLOMERATION.....chevy, builk, olds, ponitaic, saturn...all USED to be INDIVIDUAL companies
here is a question,,,,,,why should the 'government'/taxpayer...bailout...a FAILED company??????
and as far as paying the money back....please.....enough with the spin....they jsut reciently 'payed' back the bailout loan.....with ANOTHER loan from the government..........so the taxpayers were 'paid back' by GIVING gm somemore money

Yes, they did it themselves. They allowed the unions to suck them dry. What's your point?
In 2008 when Bush bailed them out the first time I opposed it, and I opposed it again, and again with Obama. I would have been fine letting them go under, but now that the money is invested why should I root for them to fail? You think I enjoy watching all that money disappear? No.

Indeed. At this point with US government money invested, ANYONE who wants GM to fail is quite simply a self-destructive unpatriotic idiot looking to hurt his country to simply score political points. Talk about "cutting off your nose to spite you face"!
Personally, I say "Let GM do well and pay us all back ASAP".

The money given to GM wouldn't keep the lights on in the U.S. for a single year. Its chump change in the grand scheme. Chump change. It won't matter jack to the overall U.S. economic picture if they pay the money back or not. Unions? You mean several thousand thousand ~$29/hr workers put a company capable of paying its CEO $38M/yr into receivership... ... ... why do I look at that and say they should have put the CEO (and the entire executive branch) on 1/4 the salary, given the workers a 4% raise and put the rest of the money saved into R&D for a new generation of automobile that doesn't use gasoline.

Do you know why GM is doing so well? It's because the Chinese are proving to have a real taste for Buicks. America's bailout funds helped GM put the finishing touches on their Chinese plant and dealership network. You all should feel a little like suckers who have been taken for a ride. I don't get the pride thing.
