I lived in Portand Oregon for a little over a year. It was the longest year of my life. Never have I seen so many people thinking that the government owed them a living. At the same time, they detest the government. Go figure.

Where better to be an anarchist/communist and a free enterprising capitalist than the good old US of A where plenty of people have the time and money to spend on overpriced coffee while talking "Revolution", "freedom for the masses" and all that other happy horses**t.""

So anyway, threats of bodily removing people and everything else aside...

What would they do if someone walked in there and tried to steal something?

Calling the police doesn't seem like it would be an option. If you don't want the police in your establishment, then you don't want the police in your establishment.

An officer is just another person. If a person won't leave your establishment, you have every right to make them do so.

I guess he was causing a disturbance afterwards. He should still leave upon being asked.

Red & Black cafe shows Portland officer the door, won't sell him coffee again | OregonLive.com
The above is the Portland news site. In the above article it says the officer bought a cup of coffee and was on the way out when the lady stopped him to thank him for his service because of an incident in which her friend was saved by the police when he was shot by gang members. It was while talking to the officer that the co-owner walked up and asked him to leave. The former US Marine who served in Iraq politely left rather than act like a brainwashed trained murderer/baby killer. The lady wrote about the incident in her blog linked below.

Thanks for sharing this link sailordave. There are always two sides to the story and I appreciated reading the citizen's version. She sounds like a normal, educated and open minded individual, unlike the "co-owner" of the
coffee shop.

The mentality of some people towards police officers baffles me. They have always been polite and helpful, even when I was lost in downtown Chicago as an out of town visitor. One gave me a personal escort to the nearest Kinkos.

"(a) Enters or remains unlawfully in a dwelling;"

Yeah, ok, this is my point. He/she/it isn't entering unlawfully. It is a PUBLIC business, OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. Remain unlawfully? Because you have a sign? Again, the sign HAS NO LEGAL BASIS. This issue has been argued, fought for, all the to the Supreme Court. Doesn't matter if its Oregon, California, or Alabama. The "Right to refuse service" means NOTHING. CASE LAW trumps what Oregon's statute is.

NO ONE, especially in a liberal area, such as this, is going to convict a person, because they refused to leave, over a sign. Come on, get real. If that were the case, black people would still not be served in Alabama, North Carolina, etc. Use some common sense and THINK about what you say, before you read some criminal code. There are MANY laws on the books, that CANNOT be enforce and/or have been ruled unconstitutional; however, they are still on the books.

If you could just post a sign and/or say: Get out. I don't want you here. Black people, Jews, et al would be kicked out of coffee shops, restaurants, etc every single day. But it doesn't happen. Why? Because you can't do it.

And, this person couldn't kick me out in uniform and I would dare him and/or you to do so.

And for the cop hater: Good luck kicking me out of ANYWHERE, in a uniform, when I have a constitional right to be there. You would be the one in jail, bleeding, and in need of medical attention. Not me.

Again, like it or not you liberals, I've been there, done that, and have the t-shirts.

My husband was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. He is disgusted by the actions of this coffee shop owner. Lucky for me. He has crossed Oregon off our list of possible places to retire.
