The Anchoress | A First Things Blog

Quote:
Carol Browner, director of the White House Office of Energy and Climate Change Policy, told Obama at one of the earliest briefings in late April that the blowout would likely lead to an unprecedented environmental disaster, senior White House aides told The Daily Beast. Browner warned that capping a well at such depths had never been done before, and that they ought to expect an oil spill that would continue until a relief well was drilled in August, the aide said.
So...based on the scope of the disaster and the fact that obama was told from "day one" how bad it would be, we can now see how truly negligent, inept and incompetent his response really was and is.

Could this be the reason why?

Moe Lane » Never let an oil leak go to waste?

Quote:
The real disgrace here is why, if he really did know right away that this was the oil equivalent of an asteroid strike, he didn’t scramble some sort of all-hands-on-deck emergency operation to protect the coastline. Remember, Jindal reportedly requested five million feet of hard boom back on May 2, long after Obama (according to Wolffe) knew about the magnitude of the disaster. By May 24, not even 800,000 feet had arrived. What happened?
Notice what party the governors of the gulf states are from. Notice a few of them are up for re-election.

Just today, I listened to Thad Allen, obama's man in charge, tell Jake Tapper that they are WORKING on getting the resources they need to contain, cleanup the oil and keep it from shore. WORKING ON IT?

They have had 48 days to see to this aspect of the spill.

Has Barry been lying to us?

I really think that Barry has allowed this disaster to go on unchecked in order to create a scenario for-

1. elimination of US offshore drilling. Oddly, twenty other foriegn nations are drilling in the Gulf. Of course, they will be allowed to drill and spill as much as they want, as we have no jurisdiction over them. Obama wants to punish US oil companies, yet let other nations drill all they want and pollute at will.

The whole issue of no intervention was to put a political stake in the heart of the republican led cry from increased drilling. Sacrifice the gulf for a political point- great.

2. To establish increase control over US oil companies and to nationalize them, much in the same way that he has gained control of banking, autos, and healthcare. Remember the mantra of Obama's dems to never let the opportunity of a crisis pass.

From your link

"Carol Browner, director of the White House Office of Energy and Climate Change Policy, told Obama at one of the earliest briefings in late April that the blowout would likely lead to an unprecedented environmental disaster, senior White House aides told The Daily Beast. Obviously Browner is a republican hack, just trying to make 0bama look bad.

Watching the Sunday morning news shows I realized for this administration and this president, getting the oil spill under control is the only thing that counts.

New Orleans recovered from Katrina, NYC from 9/11. The oil spill is so much bigger and so destructive, possibly even affecting the Atlantic fisheries, this president has to forget everything else and concentrate on this alone. I don't know if he has what it takes.

Some mouthpiece from the National Resources Defense Council was droning on this morning about how he hopes America will now start pumping the funds into renewable resources. But what funds? Where is America going to get the money to do this? The economy is broken. We can't even pay for this new healthcare bill without significant taxes.

GWB was an oil guy, maybe Obama should give him a call.

Well let's not forget he is the one. So he probably figured he could walk right out to the spill, raise his hands and tame the beast!

Has Barry been lying to us?
Constantly. Daily. If this incomptent in over his head poser in chief knew right from the start just how bad the spill potentially could be, why did the SOB refuse offers from around the world for a fleet of supertankers with vaccuum capabilities? No thanks they were told. I know. Never let a crisis go to waste. Oil on beaches would be needed to justify shutting down the US offshore drilling wouldn't it?

Sure he knew all along. With that said we can decide from two things.

1. He knew and just does not know how to handle problems and struggles with making decisions. Lack of leadership abilities to get things done.

or

2. He doesn't not care about the jobs, wildlife, coastline and the people this will effect for many years to come.

Possibly a third would be he has some ties to BP in some way and does not want to step on their toes.

I have thought from the first few weeks that Obama wanted to insidiously let the spill do as much damage as he could "allow" to be done in order to demonize Big Oil, push his green agenda and gain support for Cap and Trade. There is potentially a lot of money to be made from this disaster, some of which will end up in federal coffers.

"Never let a good crisis go to waste".

The problem is he stuck his foot in his own mouth a few months ago when HE ANNOUNCED HE WANTED TO DO MORE DRILLING OFFSHORE ALONG OUR COASTLINE.

Funny how the anti oil drillers here bait anyone who is for drilling of our own oil but fail to attack the idiot in the WH who just announced he wanted to see more offshore drilling along our coast.

Typical left wing hypocrisy at work.

So now Obama is the new Drill Baby Drill king!!! He inserted his foot into his mouth and cannot take it back.
