What would you say are the main differences, if any? I've been to Jupiter and it's nice but didn't get farther north. I liked it much more than Wellington (where were originally headed) but we could go even farther north. I liked Jupiter (not so crowded, good schools, nice beach...) The main problem with Jupiter is that there was really only one neighborhood (Egret Landing) that we liked and that is rather limiting when it comes time to find a house.

Martin County sounds very nice; we love all sorts of outdoorsy activities and a slower pace of life. But we're wondering if it's worth being even farther from family we have in Lake Worth.
Thanks for any input!

I used to live in Jupiter myself and loved it, still do. But, the prices have skyrocketed out of site for living any where in Palm Beach County.

If you want to live in Martin Co or St Lucie Co ..the drive is no biggie to any of us really. Lots of people enjoy the slower pace of life (and the lower cost of living) and drive when they want or need to.

Well, I will disagree on home prices/costs of Martin County vs. Palm Beach.

Port St. Lucie vs. Palm Beach County, definitely cheaper in Port St. Lucie. But, the better areas of Palm City, Stuart, etc. are very comparable to similar in Palm Beach County.

If you want to be specific about high end housing.. yes,....its still high end housing, especially in this market when very nice homes are available for less money.

Martin Co didn't do much if any building during the boom. It wasn't allowed. Port St Lucie had the area to build and did and has the most newer homes to offer for that reason.

Just pulling a quick number off MLS without prices: 156 homes in Stuart available built from 2004 to 2010. In Port St Lucie there are 736 homes available.

With a maximum price of $250,000 - Stuart shows 80 homes available. Port St Lucie shows 597 available.
