The coast of Fla is always good for retirees. It just depends on how quite you really want it. Do you want JUST the beach, or do you want more things to do, more restaurants, etc.

If you want ON the beach it depends on how much you want to spend since the beach area is not cheap

Personal opinion only - Vero is quiter and has less to do. Has great beaches and no real restaurants to speak of but a very few.

PSL...less quiet, more to do, but not in your face either. Plenty of restaurants, and easy access to the area with even more to do .. Jupiter, Palm Beach Gardens etc. A short ride to and from everything.

I worked in Vero a few years ago but chose to stay in Port St Lucie. I personally found Vero way too quite. I'm not 30 yrs old.. but not dead yet either

Thanks..I can see now that Port St. Lucie is a much bigger city..and less of a beach city?

By the time I get there..which will be 7 or 8 years..I'll be ready for the "quiet"..AND the beach.

the beaches are along the outer barrier island- Hutchinson Island and Jensen Beach officially.... and they are just great..and FREE!. Are we "beachy" as in touristy...eh.. I would have to say no, not really at all. Just a "enjoy it" kind of beach. Pleanty of places to go along it that you won't find anyone there and have it all to yourself. Join in the busy beach part if you want to. I find a place down the road a bit with nobody or few people and relax

In comparing PSL to Vero one thing I found interesting is that even though PSL has many more people than Vero its crime rate is lower.

I've been told that the humidity might be lower, or feel lower, in these areas. Is there ANY accuracy to this?
