Looking to relocate to this area. We are an active couple with pets. Loking for an area near good schools, hospital, shopping, restaurants in a safe family oriented neighborhood to walk dogs and enjoy great neighbors. Not looking to be near retirees or tourists. Thanks in advance for your info!

Well you will run in to retirees and tourist every where in Florida. Have you narrowed down your search more than just the East Coast of Florida???

You might check out the beach communities in Brevard County, which have "A"-rated schools and the family vibe you're looking for. There are few tourists in the mix and a proportionate amount of retirees. I would focus on the towns of Indialantic, Melbourne Beach, Satellite Beach and Indian Harbour Beach.

I can understand wanting to avoid the touristy areas, but what do you have against retirees ?!

Martin County has a lot of nice towns: Stuart, Jensen Beach, Palm City etc.

I second Martin county. We live in Palm City and have young children in school and extra curricular activities. The schools are great.
