In trying to decided on where to retire and after looking at scores of houses it seems that the houses I generally prefer most of the time are located in communities with HOA's, some with double monthly fees from two associations. Are the fees worth it? If I have to live in a HOA community which area has the lowest fees or which area is governed by a liberal board.

Tradition has 2 HOA fees. The first one is the mini development that you live in. That will cover the pool, lawn maintenance, and cable/internet service. The other is for the community fee. That takes care of everything in the town of Tradition.

It costs a bit, but IMO it is well worth it. I love how well kept that area is, and it is nice that everything outside your home is taken care of. It depends if that is something you like or not. It's gonna be pretty warm in a month or two, and I'm sure mowing the lawn is going to get uncomfortable!
