We just moved to Vero. We are in a month to month rental on the island. We are getting our kids registered for school.We can start our oldest in Beachland Elem. for the remainder of 5th grade. Which is probably what we are going to do. We close on our house in 2 months. There we are zoned for Citrus Elem. and Gifford middle. I've heard great things about Citrus and not so great this about Gifford...I know Gifford is a grade A school, but I'm concerned about safety. I've only heard from a couple of people about Gifford and 1 says NO WAY and the other says it's a Great school but has a bad rep due to the area... I know we can do a zone waiver but I don't what our options are? Any advise on the schools in Vero would be great!

I really can't tell you much, as we have recently moved here ourselves. Our son is in 3rd grade, so we had to get him enrolled ASAP so he could take the FCATS this past week. We had a choice of 5 schools in our district- and both of our children had to go to our LAST choice. I now hate this school system. I think it is a stupid setup and can't believe how moronic it is run. I wish you the best of luck- all I can say is get on a waiting list for a good school and hope for the best.

I doubt you would be zoned for Citrus and Gifford, they are very far away from each other? I live on the Island so I don't know for sure, but Citrus is so close to Oslo Middle that I can't imagine you would have that combination.
