Hello. Im a 30 year old single male who will be relocating to the treasure coast in about a month. I'll be working in both sebastian and vero beach. I was thinking about residing in either vero beach or hutchingson island (harbour isle). I'd prefer to live on the water (river or ocean), and I rarely go out, however when I get the urge I would like for some form of a nightlife to be available. Which place would be more enjoyable for a young professional? Do you have any other suggestions?

i live in orlandhell, i mean orlando. i want to get out of orlando, and really liked vero bch. a few ppl did mention (on this forum) that vero doesnt have a lot going on socially/nightlife-wise. it seems like it may be a predominantly retirement community. but it is nice, that's for sure.

i'd say pick vero bch over ft pierce. almost everyone on this forum would probably agree.

Unless you are into the gang life, Ft. Pierce will not be your cup of tea.

I doubt that Vero has the greatest night life, but it is close to Orlando and Melbourne, and is a much better place to live than Ft. Pierce.

It's not just a retirement town, but it is low key. It's not a swinging singles town, but it doesn't have the population. Vero is nice though.

I don't know much about Vero. I am not that familiar with Ft. Pierce's gang life either. I have been to harbor isle. It seems to be a nice place to live. I have been in down town Fort Pierce in the evening. I haven't seen any gang activity. There are some areas of Ft. Pierce that are not safe and give the city a bad name. Just don't go there. There are activities in Sunrise Theater and other restaurants around the area. Overall, the down town Fort Pierce is not as nice as other places I have been to (Fort Lauderdale, South Beach). But you can drive South to Jensen beach area.

Overall, I have heard a lot good things about Verobeach too. I think it may be a better choice for you. However, describing FT. Pierce only has gang life is WRONG. There are a lot of investors who bought at harbor isle and can't sell the unit. So the rent is very low now. Why don't you rent there for a short period of time to see whether you would like the place? You may be able to organize wild beach parties in one of those wild empty but beautiful beaches. Just kidding.

It's alright. Ex-Rep Mark Foley lives there. Once you get away from there, there isn't much in Ft. Pierce.

Hutchinson Island in Fort Pierce is nice and quiet. Downtown is also revitalizing, but I wouldn't stray much further "into" Fort Pierce for anything, because there's not too much there worth going into. If you live on North Hutchinson Island in Fort Pierce, you will have access to Vero Beach (better shopping and dining amenities than Fort Pierce) at a lower price, in my opinion.

Vero Beach is by far and away ... the better choice. Certainly a cursory check would reveal that.

Live in Sebastian. It is a great little riverfront town that will put you almost midway between social lures of Vero and Melbourne.
