You guys know they are paying roughly 25 million for that land which includes all the back taxes. Not going to get full market value plus all the back taxes owed. I am glad we are getting the tax money and finally something might be built on the land.
5 million dollar parcel sold by the city for 750K in a good market. That sounds like the great Digital Domain deal negotiated by the city. Morons
Let's keep it sitting idle for a few more years waiting for the other $4m, collecting $0 in tax revenue. Sounds like you need to run for office!
I'm hopeful that the city can finally get all the big ticket blunders off the shoulders of the taxpayers and the new owners can finally make some use of the City Center. I'm betting the new bridge has done a lot of good helping to get this deal wrapped up.

Fort Pierce wants to launch seaplane service to the Bahamas from a new downtown base
Keona Gardner, Treasure Coast Newspapers
FORT PIERCE — Seaplanes soon could be taking off and landing from the Indian River Lagoon in downtown.
Shuffleboard courts at the Riverwalk Center on North Indian River Drive, just north of the Fort Pierce City Marina, would be converted for a seaplane base, City Manager Nick Mimms told the City Commission Monday.
"Residents will benefit from the economic development through the expansion of the city's tourism, visibility and exposure," Mimms told TCPalm.
The seaplane base would cost as little as $370,856 for a ramp, passenger drop-off and pick-up area with paved bays to hold four seaplanes to $526,845 for a base accommodating six planes.
The city, however, has no plan how to pay for a seaplane base.
“Fort Pierce is a great location for a seaplane base because of its direct access to the water,” said Steven McCaughey, president of the of the Lakeland-based Seaplane Pilots Association, which is helping the city develop the base.
The Intracoastal Waterway is a large area and it is not restricted in width as you would have in waters in South Florida,” McCaughey said Wednesday in an interview with TCPalm. “And the access to the shoreline is relatively protected and the water is very deep.”
The city's plans, McCaughey said, have attracted attention from two carriers — Fly the Whale, a 10-year-old, New York-based airline with a maintenance hub at Treasure Coast International Airport; and Tropic Ocean Airways, a 9-year-old, Fort Lauderdale-based airline flying to the Bahamas from Fort Lauderdale and Miami as well as charter and day trips there.
"I think this will be a great addition to downtown and really nice for the community," said Kurt Holden, Fly the Whale operations manager. "It will make Fort Pierce more of a destination place for tourism."
From Fort Pierce, Tropic would offer charter and day trips to Exhuma, Bahamas, and five- and seven-day vacation packages, said its marketing manager, Dominic Patrick.
Tropic officials also are interested in Fort Pierce because of plans to redevelop the Port of Fort Pierce into a mega-yacht repair center, said Patrick, a Vero Beach native. Tropic offers mega-yacht services such as flying owners to their vessel and delivering supplies to yachts at sea.
The St. Lucie County Commission, which acts as the port authority, is to hold a second round of interviews Oct. 30 with two potential port operators.
The city is considering using a vacant city-owned recreational building as a customs facility.
Before the project becomes a reality, the city would need a seaplane-base license from the Florida Department of Transportation and airspace certification from the Federal Aviation Administration.
The process could take up to two years, McCaughey said.
If Fort Pierce could develop a seaplane base downtown, it would expand potential transportation and tourism options. The city is proposing two locations for Brightline to build a passenger station. Higher-speed train service between Miami and Orlando International Airport is to begin in early 2021.
