I was wondering the same thing, but I really don't think so. PSL is such a new town, it never had the opportunity to have a main st per say. All you have is strip malls, and Tradition of course. Sad, but if you need a downtown, Ft Pierce and Stuart both have decent revitalized dowwntown shopping areas.

Not really. What we Northerners call downtown or in my case Philly, Center City, is actually over by the main town hall on Walton Road.
On the other hand, I live in Tradition, and we have a town green or center where the town hall is located and where most of all the activities are held.

What separates PSL from places like WPB, Boca and Ft. Laud is we have no tall building to speak of and I like it just fine.

Nope. No "downtown". They were originally going to try to make one but plans fell through after they built the parking garage.

Default No Downtown

There's no downtown area and I think that's why the crime rate is so low here. In the cities with "downtowns" the crime is up due to all the crumb hangouts, bars, and porno shops. And usually that's where the panhandlers and homeless hang (I lived in a few towns with downtowns). The downtowns need a lot of policing to keep them drug-free and clean, Stuart and Martin County in general seems to do a decent job at that. If PSL had a true downtown we would have the typical downtown issues.

I was cracking-up until I realized you were right. Now I'm sad.

What IS going on with the "Civic Center Area"?? I wish the city offered an update.

Nothing. Although they do have a pathetic farmers market there on Saturday mornings.

So much great land to develop. I did some research on it today and learned that the problem is the developer defaulted on the property. With no developer, there's no progress. So the city is trying to find a new developer to take ownership of it with zero success so far.

The good news, the land is already prepped for development and the city itself is still motivated to have the "downtown" created. The bad news, it may be a few years until a company decides to take up that challenge.

It's similar to the planned Crosstown bridge near it. The city is ready, but they are waiting on other parties.

In 10 years or so, that area may actually become a "downtown", if Tradition doesn't beat it to the punch.
