We are considering moving to Martin County from Palm Beach County. We have young children so schools are a big issue for us. We know we can get more house for our $ in Martin County but still will be commuting to WPB for work and friends/ family visits. We've narrowed our search to Hobe Sound, Stuart and Palm City. For those of you who live there, can you recommend one town over the others? Thanks.

We live in Palm City and have been here for 4 yrs. All of the schools are A rated. Several family neighborhoods. Plenty of activities for the kids. Convenient to Stuart and West Palm. Takes us 25-30 minutes to the airport depending on traffic. Our son is in 1 st grade at Citrus Grove. He had a fantastic kindergarten teacher and we are extremely pleased with CGE. We have friends with children in each of the other elementary schools and they are very happy with them as well. I cant speak for the other towns since we have not lived there. We rented in PSL for 6 months and the Martin County schools came highly recommended. We found a house we loved in Palm City and that was all it took . Let me know if you have any questions.

Palm City is the best area of the three, although Stuart and Hobe Sound each have nice areas but also have some mixed areas. Palm City has more of the gated master-planned communities similar to what you find in Palm Beach Gardens or Boca Raton. Stuart and Hobe Sound tend to have older smaller houses in non-gated communities unless you live near the water. The one exception is the newer housing developments along US1 in the Northern part of Hobe Sound near the Seabranch Blvd. area. Given your criteria, Palm City is probably the best option due to the quality of the schools and proximity to I-95 and the Turnpike.

+1.... Hobe sound down by bridge rd has a ton of trailer parks and the wonderful Banner Lake area west of US-1. Stuart has a lot of retirement geared communities.

Thank you! Yes, the Hobe Sound area we are looking at is Seabranch--Lost Lake. Sounds like Palm City should be our strongest contender. Any specific neighborhoods you recommend?

Hi There! Also considering a move to that area! Is Palm City part of Palm Beach Gardens?

No Susan- they're about 30 miles apart. Palm City is west of Stuart in northern Martin county.

Is the Banner Lake area a little rough? not so desirable for safety.
