Wrong. Coral Springs was named the 10th safest city in the United States the year PSL was named 25th in 2006. Weston also has a significantly lower crime rate than anywhere on the Florida peninsula.
Oops, I meant BREVARD county, which is North of Indian River.
Nevertheless, Weston is a much smaller city, no? and Cape Coral is by all accounts another sprawling Port Saint Lucie of the South. Only even further from the water but closer to the city.
i wouldnt move to brevard co... titusville, mims, melbourne, cocoa, cocoa bch... seems to have crime troubles. head south to indian river co or martin co before trying brevard co. imo.

We are a little dyslexic tonight maybe? I said Coral Springs . Cape Coral is like another PSL. And yeah, Weston is around 65k residents, so that is signifigantly smaller.

Yeah, that's what I meant, lol. I hear the same "boring" comments about Coral Springs as I do Port Saint Lucie. I think it's correlative with low crime that you're going to be in a "boring" area.
Nevertheless, even Coral Springs is basically right on target with PSL:

Again, I SERIOUSLY don't understand why you're playing up Port Saint Lucie crime. Port Saint Lucie is STILL safer than anything in Martin, Indian River, or Broward County. And HOUSTON? Katrina refugee central? No thank you.
are you out of your mind? indian river county is not safe???!!! the biggest problem with indian river county is that there isn't enough to do for entertainment, but crime is certainly not the problem.

It's safe. It's just not "as safe" as Port Saint Lucie, statistically speaking:

The fact is that "safe" places are generally "boring" places. PSL, Vero, etc.... none of these places have tons of entertainment choices, and teens, etc. often complain about being bored out of their minds, but in my opinion are good for families.
I grew up in PSL. I was busy with work, school, sports, clubs to ever really think about being "bored!"
We bought our first home in Port Saint Lucie with high hopes and now with construction being the way it is we are just praying we can get out of it. We are putting it on the market Nov 1st and the realtor we met with said good luck, there are over 200 homes for sale or foreclosed on right now. The problem is the City raised the taxes from 800.00 to 3,100.00 and the insurance company went up for no reason and our mortgage company is taking 170.00 more a month "just incase anything happens" which has totally turned me against Port Saint Luice. I would not recommend it to anyone right now. The market is down and it may be years before it recovers. I don't know where to suggest that you move to be we will relocate to Stuart or Palm City they both seem to have really good reputations.

Did your taxes go from $800 to $3100 in ONE YEAR? ANYONE in Saint Lucie County whose taxes went UP this year should have read their TRIM notices and filed a property tax appeal. ESPECIALLY if your taxes went up THAT MUCH!

I guess you are paying $800 for the first year because you are only paying tax for the land value. After one year, you will be required to pay the tax for both the house and land value. The market is also down in Stuart and Palm City. I would think the school system will be key factor to choose Stuart or Palm City.
