I hear from various people (second hand info mostly) how boring the Treasure Coast and Pt. St. Lucie in particular are. When I try to pin them down on why I don't get that much information. I realize there are a lot less clubs or show than closer to the Palm Beaches but since i don't go to either, i don't care.

It seems the beaching & river access are as good if not better than most places. Enough shopping; I'm a guy what do I need morw than Home Deport, Publix, and a (soon) Bass Pro Shop?

Oh, I'm a single male who is looking to retire there.

It seems to me that Stuart & Ft Pierce have small "downtowns" to have things happening on weekends. Things like arts & crafts, food fairs, etc.

Are there enough mid priced resturants; Italian, Seafood?

My move WILL happen this year.

What am I missing?

From what I have gathered, it is mostly boring if you are a teenager or a young single person who likes a lot of night life. For us more "mature" folks, it seems to have plenty of cultural choices and a good library (the latter being very important to me, at least). I am referring to Vero Beach, by the way.

ditto!!!!

Great place to live. Not as crowded as the bigger cities like Ft. Lauderdale. Miami, and Tampa, but just crowded enough to enjoy a great quality of life. Has plenty of everything and if you cannot find it here we are close enough to Palm Beach.

When you come to look be sure to visit Tradition and St. Lucie West. Both west of I 95 between exits 121 and 118. You will not regret it. Good luck!

Yes, it is very boring is you are looking to go to clubs or have an active night life. PSL and Stuart are very quiet and family oriented towns that have plenty to offer- just not a lot of things single and partying kids like to do. And I think we all like it that way!! I know I do! If you are into fishing, golfing, boating, exercise the Treasure Coast is for you. Come check it out and see for yourself!

Nothing!

Indian River County has a great public shooting range, too! A few more years before I can retire down there......

Yeah PSL and most of the Treasurecoast are bedroom and retirement communities. Nothing fancy. It could be a better place if the "Good ole Boys" network wasn't running the show but I like it despite the flaws. I am shocked that the education system is not better. You would think that parents would demand more of the schools but I'm not sure they are organized enough to do that.

Other than that if you are looking for excitement try going 5mph over the speed limit and you will see a hot persuit in progress.

I like it here. I have enough places to shop and restaurants within my 5 mile radius to take care of my everyday needs. Orlando, with Dizzyworld, Universal and all the theme parks and stuff are just a relatively short drive to the north. Daytona, with stock car racing, bike week, is also just a short drive to the north. West Palm Beach, and points south (Lauderdale, Miami) with cruise ships, Seminole casinos, dog and horse tracks are also, just a short drive to the south. Nice big Lake Okeechobee is to the west. Enough festivals in the immediate area (just went to the Port Salerno Seafood Fest a few weeks ago, Jensen has the Pineapple Fest...Pirate fest last year in Stuart...I'm sure there are dozens I'm missing). We have a Jai Alai Fronton in Fort Pierce, I haven't been to it, but will make plans. Oh yeah...there's also the beach!

Anybody who can't find something to do isn't trying hard enough.

Only thing I don't care for is my commute back and forth to West Palm for work.

Of course, comparing here to where I grew up in southwestern Kansas (town called "Liberal") with absolutly nothing within a short drive, let alone in town....
