I am sure the topic will provide an opportunity to comment on my psychological status but I am looking for a source for fruitcake. I am way behind in my Christmas preparations I know. If anyone could recommend a source for a good fruit cake.

There is a small town in Georgia called Claxton, about half an hour from where I grew up (and about 90 minutes from Savannah) that bills itself as "The Fruitcake Capital of the World". Claxton Fruitcake Company mass-produces fruitcake for year-round consumption, but obviously Christmas is their main sales season. I've heard they sell them all over the country, though it being...such an 'acquired taste' means it might still be difficult to find. As they say, "ask for it by name". I have yet to see them for sale here, but then I haven't really been looking.

Never had the stuff, but can't say it looks even remotely appetizing.

I have seen Claxton fruit cake for sale at the save a lot store on US 1 in PSL ... It's not the best fruitcake in the world but it will do if you need some

Bought the Claxton at Sam's, not like the fruitcakes of yesteryear but not too bad, use plenty of vanilla ice cream or egg nog.
