Hutchinson Island is generally condos and a beach and not much else. Few restaurants and shops making for trips off the island a regular occurance for things to do other than sit on the beach. If you on North Hutchinson Island ( north of the FT Pierce inlet) you will go north to Vero Beach to find things to do. If on South Hutchinson Island I would say the further south you go south of the nuclear power plant is better as you are much closer to Jensen Beach and Stuart. Hutchinson Island is very much a quiet predominately residential oceanfront community that will require you to leave the island to do other things.

I like the North end of South Hutchinson Island. My Father has a place in OceanVillage. You can get off the Island there or drive south down to Jensen which is about a 20 minute drive

There are 3 bridges that have access to South Hutchinson Island. One is on the northern end at Fort Pierce. The other two are towards the southern half of the island. One of them is in Jensen Beach and the other one is in Stuart down towards the southern end. There are nice beaches along most of the island and sometimes it can feel like your very own island because they are secluded and no one is on the beach. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the help. I am leaning towards staying on the southern part of the Island.
