You're right about me being dead wrong on the taxes. Guess I am a moron after all .... The random "houses" I looked at must have all been empty lots. Go figure. What are the odds of that? Ah well better to find out now!

No you're not, you just looked at the wrong houses or lots. A good general room of thumb on a new house in PSL is the property tax is about 2% of the homes purchase cost. So if you bought a new 200K home plan on about 4K in taxes without the homestead redemption.

Depends on what house you looked at. Some are not homesteaded and were bought when prices were high.

The taxes will reflect that.

Others are purchased currently and have different /lower purchase prices and the taxes will reflect that too!

Here is the tax estimator again-- use it instead of guessing. A NEW purchase will change things.

Glad I found this thread. As much as we love living in Weston, we are planning on downsizing and simplifying our lives. As such we've been going up the coast to begin our search and stopped in at PGA Village and Tradition. We are also trying to reduce our cost of living. We liked what we saw until I went to the property appraiser site in addition to your comments. It looks like we will continue our search.
