Thinking of adding a whole house propane tank for the BBQ, electric generator, and stove. Has anyone experience with this. Unfortunately there is natural gas available 4 blocks away but Florida Gas quoted a price of $18k to run a line to the house. We prefer cooking with gas and plan to change out the range.

The house we had in Jupiter had a leased tank from Amerigas, that we took over. (Cooking only) can't remember the size, but it was about as tall as me (5ft-4in). The tank rental was 100.00 year and when it was topped off, it would last us 1-1/2 yrs. I loved that stove! Hate the electric flat top we have now and when we can afford it, we want to switch over to gas for cooking also.

Good luck with your search

Barbara

LOL...Sid, you never stop thinking of different things to do, do ya? Seems like every day you have something new pop into your noggin. You must drive your wife crazy!!

We had a propane tank in NC, but not here. A neighbor has one down the street to run his whole-house generator. Normally they bury them in the ground here.

I guess your comments regarding my work ethic are a compliment. It seems now that I am retired I am busier than I ever was when I was working. I am still working part time and doing volunteer work; having just graduated from the University of Florida Master Gardener Program. I am applying for a volunteer position with Code Enforcement and should begin training soon. As a senior citizen and a two time cancer survivor I do not want to waste what precious time that I may have left. Having moved to new area after living someplace else for 68 years has been an experience. I am trying to get the homestead finished with the various projects so I can purse my love of fishing and painting and enjoying my grandchildren. Being new to the area and knowing just a few neighbors I frequently turn to the Forum for help and guidance and apologize in advance to anyone that I may offend.
MY project list is long and I have learned over the prior 69 years so seek council from others more informed before taking on new projects. Please drop by sometime and I will offer you a hammer or a shovel, I can use the help.
Sid

Didn't mean to ruffle any feathers Sid, just stating what I see. Seems everyday you have a new idea or some new project. I'm glad you are doing well and enjoying your retired life. I just chuckle every time I get on here waiting to see what today's post will bring.
