How is this area? It looks like it's close to I-95. I am assuming that it is relatively new, as opposed to old Vero Beach, and of course the barrier island. I am thinking about renting in this area - maybe Lexington Club. Has this become the "new" shopping area for Vero with the mall,Walmart,Target etc? Is this area junky or is it ok?

It's fine. I haven't explored the subdivisions in the area, but what I have seen looks like a nice mixture of middle-class housing. The mall is a few miles east of I-95 so there shouldn't be much traffic noise from it if you don't venture too much farther west. From the mall east to around 58th Avenue are most of the big "box" stores for Vero Beach, including WalMart, Target, Best Buy, Home Depot, etc. It becomes residential just north of 20th Street (Route 60, where the stores are). South of 20th (west of 58th) it is largely rural.

Yeah it's fine. Yeah, it's the newer-ish area. (albeit some houses/streets there are many decades old) It's outside the city limits - a CDP called West Vero Corridor.

I lived in Woodfield right behind the mall and those people paid 400K for their homes. It was very convenient especially for someone new to the area.

Pointe West is a HUGE subdivision further West than Lexington Club. It has the most upscale Assisted Living/Memory Care in the area, The Brennity. And golf.

It doesn't feel close to I95 in fact, those streets running North to South are very rural and pleasant. I'm currently loving a dog walking client's subdivision she just moved to on 82nd Ave at 26th.

There is traffic. It's the center of shopping. Traffic meaning if you're in the "wrong lane" you can't move over easily. You'll catch a light or two waiting to cross 60W, etc. The street lights used to be blinking yellow at night there was so little traffic when I first moved here in 08 (at night) but I don't know if they still do that. Our short term occupancy rates are up by 20% in THE SUMMER this year. Vero is becoming popular.

I take 66th Ave to go North/South instead of 58th because it's faster and less crowded even with the construction they have right now. It's clear sailing. Everybody and their mother uses 58th including cement trucks etc. There around the mall.

If you want a more "quiet" neighborhood there is also River Park Place Apartments on Indian River Blvd.

To both Sealark7 and Runswithscissors thanks very much for the information. The best advice i could give someone contemplating a move to the Vero Beach area would be to read a good deal of the entries in this forum.
