My family and I have been looking at port St.Lucie as a possible place to relocate our family to. we now live in south Florida and need a new place to call home. we have had it with the condo living and will be looking for a house in a Neighborhood with lots of teens. we have a 16 year old who is very out going. she is also an A student so a good high school is a must. any information on such a place would give us a place to start looking. we will rent first to get a feel of the area before buying a new home. Thanks.

Base it on the School because, honestly, there aren't that many that are good. Get the zone and go from there.

School is the #1. When in the Air Force I had to move my kids from a dynamic school system in Las Vegas to a below standards school system in NC and it was not good. It can really hurt them. So if you are stuck on Florida..look for the best school with advanced classes.

I am not sure about what you are looking in terms of school, but Tradition has a lot of teens walking to Tradition Square

Tradition has a charter school and Renaissance school - k-8---- Centennial would be the High School

Centennial rates poorly and is a Florida "c" graded school, However that is only part of the picture, the great schools rating only tells 1/4 the picture as its only based on standardized testing. Which STATISTICALLY is biased due to low testing scores for immigrant and poorer families, be it a language barrier or a situation where both parents are too busy working to make sure johnny does his homework or to make sure sally understands long division or percentages, the statistics do not lie. Now using florida grading system it gets to be a fuller picture, there is a poor graduation rate and poor AP class/test passage on top of little to no funding for at risk children etc.

However to counter that, there are magnet programs and county wide programs to assist a child, IF THEY TAKE ADVANTAGE of them and parents help motivate/encourage their child, which again brings us back to the language/income issues, but the chances are there for the students.

What a crock.

You don't even live in FL.

So there is little to no funding for at risk children but there are county wide programs to assist a child.

Makes perfect sense.

There is over $14 BILLION in just Title 1 funding alone.
