Hi Folks,
I might be relocating to either Port St. Lucie or Melbourne from out of state in 2018. They seem like apples and oranges crime wise, so I'm looking at Port St. Lucie first. I'd like to rent a house but in every state I've tried to live I have the same problem. I have 3 dogs. All are under 20 lbs but the magic number is usually 2 max and I have 3. Getting rid of one or more is not an option.

Have any of you rented in Port St. Lucie or surrounding areas and had success or not with renting a house with 3 dogs? If you think it was/is then could you recommend a nearby city? I am very concerned with crime rates.

My second question is regarding swimming. Does anyone know of any indoor pools (preferably include if there is a deep end, lap lanes and backstroke flags) in the area?

Thanks for any input!
Northern Gator

You just have to find an owner who will accept 3 little dogs....its a call and ask first when people call me about pets. They all want photos now too.

Indoor - the YMCA and there are pools in all the Fitness clubs. There are 2 fitness clubs run by Martin Memorial Hospital as well

HOA communities all have pools, but 3 dogs is a maybe = most only allow 1 or 2

FlaLadyB,
I've moved so much in the past couple of years I've already got the photos. It's hard because I don't want to live in a place that allows loose aggressive dogs. It's very frusturating. I might have to go with Melbourne area because I need to be near an airport and my understanding is that the nearest to Port St. Lucie is an hour away.

It would be great if the Y had indoor pools! I hate having to choose between getting fit and getting cancer. Last time I lived in FL I was forced to use outdoor pools, got a red spot, had to have it removed then they lost the biopsy and I had to get another one done. Horrible!

Thanks for the tip on Martin Memorial Hospital, I didn't realize it was there.
NG

why did you have to mention that you're black?

I swear black people love segregating themselves

Perhaps because African Americans have found over their lifetimes that they are not always welcomed into all-white communities.

Again, it is not that black folks "love segregating themselves." Rather, it is because most white people love segregating themselves.

That's because black people only make up a small 12-13% of the population yet account for the majoriy of all violent crime.
