Rain-soaked Treasure Coast can expect more of the same

"This week, the rain-soaked Treasure Coast is to settle into a regular summer rain pattern: scattered to numerous afternoon showers, some thunderstorms and continued mugginess, according to National Weather Service forecasters.

"Sunday night's 70 percent rain chances are to give way to lower probabilities ranging from 20 to 50 percent during the week.

"Still, there will be little if any interruption of the usual rain patterns, according to the Sunday morning forecast.

"Rains are expected to come from coastal sea breezes rather than from broad disturbances in the Gulf of Mexico that led to heavy rains at the start of the month.

"From June 1 to Sunday morning, Stuart alone received 11.3 inches, almost three times what it normally receives this time of the month, records show.

"Elsewhere from Fort Pierce to Vero Beach, rainfall is approaching twice the normal amounts."

I've got tadpoles growing in my swales. No joke!

I need to cut my grass 2x week now. It's unbelievable!

Not necessarily. If you do it, your neighbors will think they are obliged to do likewise! Take advantage of the constant rain and let it grow, unless, of course, you're concerned it will get so high that you won't be able to tackle it. Gosh, even the lawn services for the houses on my block that have them appear to be waiting. I doubt code enforcement is out looking for anyone to nab for too tall grass, or they'd have to cite 3/4 of the town!

I use a self propelled mower, and I am pretty particular about my lawn. I went a week last week and it took forever to get it done. It will be easier to cut it twice. Plus, I have a 13 year old boy at home with absolutely nothing better to do!
