PORT ST. LUCIE — Mayor Greg Oravec made Reggie Osenton his top pick for city attorney, negotiated Osenton's contract and provided regular feedback on Osenton's performance, including a strongly worded annual review.

But Oravec deflected any blame for himself or other City Council members while overseeing Osenton, who was pressured to resign suddenly Feb. 22 in the wake of an internal investigation which found he violated city hiring policy and presided over a dysfunctional staff.

It was the third time in four years a city attorney has left under a cloud and the second time during Oravec's three-year tenure as mayor. Under the city charter, the council appoints the city attorney, who serves at the council's pleasure.

I'm hopeful that the city can find a suitable replacement with a little less drama. That office needs a stable ringleader!

Port Saint Lucifer is a corrupt to the core city. Don Cooper handed over free, agenda 21 drainage land to Sam's club and Walmart on U.S.1 courtesy of the tax payers- who are still paying the bill for that by the way. He rubber stamped those buildings and when everything around them started flooding he laid the problem at the doorstep of the entire city.

I wonder what kind of payoff he got for that. I know he got raises in the years after that; and then promptly retired after he was vested and he skipped town w/ a fat pension. The popo also covered for him when he beat his wifey.. Still beating your wife Don?

The fact that this current crew hasn't dug up any of these bodies, just goes to show you it's just a continuation of the same. Take a look at the drainage around Sam's & WM on US1 via google maps. That big area of water to the south and north of sams wasn't part of Sam's parcel. Who does all of that benefit? Mostly Sams and WM who didn't acquire enough land to build stores those sizes.

WM's drainage hand out (welfare for the rich) was to the west of it if memory serves. Plus pumps to push all the water east under U.S. 1. They didn't pay for that, you did if you're living in PSL, renting, owning or doing biz. Even the pumps were paid for by the taxpayers.

There is no Saint Lucie.. It's named after Lucifer.
