I've never been to Grand Bahama before but I'm going next month. We're looking to buy a tiny Beach side Condo there and then rent it out to vacationers..

Are the Beaches / water nicer there? I'm assuming yes ??

The beach and water is nice there. Usually pretty calm......I would visit a couple times before pulling the trigger on purchasing though. There is large amount of vacation rentals already available to rent so your condo will have to compete against those among the other usual things that go into renting (ie: upkeep, customers trashing the place, repairs, etc). Just do all of your research before purchasing.

Hopefully you did not buy this condo or if you did you are able to recover from the damage due to last week's hurricane.

Grand Bahama would be one of the last islands I'd want to buy on (even before the storm). It isn't that pretty and way too commercial. The other nightmare is the transaction costs when you buy/sell in the Bahamas. Once they started with the VAT tax the Bahamas got a lot less viable for profits (7.5% at first, then bumped to 12%!).

Put me in the "save your cash" and just rent when you want to go there!
