Hello. Thinking of looking for a home in PGA Verano, or one of those developments. Can anyone give me a ballpark figure on home insurance for a house in the $500-600K price range? Thank you!

It's impossible to tell anymore, the insurance companies are pulling out of Florida or quoting stupid high rates to put you off them. Citizens is swamped as the only "company" that will write.

This is not going to end well.

We had USAA when we first moved to Florida last summer and it was stupid expensive. I switched to AAA last month and saved over $1,000 by doing so. It's still expensive though. It's more than twice what we were paying in Texas where we had a more expensive house. I've heard AARP may also have better rates than the local companies.

Brand new house currently being built, can only get a quote from Citizens for $1760
2006 house medium size, block, well inland - 3/2/2 - $900 Increased by 25%
1984 house small, stick, well inland 2/2/0 - $910
1980 house medium size, stick, 3/2/0 - $1660
1964 house small near Indian River, block 2/1/0 - $1940 told lucky not to be dropped. Increased by 30%

Spoke to someone in MA the other day who is paying $2200 for a mcmansion and 2 cars, but tax is over 10k so it's swings and roundabouts !!!!

At the risk of appearing clueless/stupid are those yearly or monthly figures?
