We and our son’s family want to move back to Florida we are seniors with an adult special needs child . My son has a toddler ,are there good doctors there? Where we live now there is a shortage of drs especially specialists . Is it safe ? With kid friendly places and churches? Thanks

Yes to all above. What I like most about Port St. Lucie is there is no bad/"ghetto' area. Plenty of kid friendly parks, beaches, restaurants, amusement, etc. Some you might have commute to like the zoo or theme parks but relative a close drive. I would just read reviews on different Doctors and try a few on your short list and go with the one you feel most comfortable with.

I'd suggest Vero Beach -- a couple of towns to the north. There's a huge hospital complex (Cleveland Clinic) with tons of doctors. It's also a couple of hours driving distance to Orlando, which has many more doctors if you need more choices in specialists. Alternatively, Miami is three or four hours driving distance to the south. It's safe, and there are churches. If you live in a mobile home community, there often pools and sometimes activities for kids. Or, if you are looking for a place that you and your spouse want to live in alone, separate from your son's family, Fort Pierce has some really beautiful and well-run age-restricted (seniors only) mobile home communities. Both have beaches and restaurants, and they're both quiet. Or, if you want something more walkable in the area with less of a small-town/semi-rural feel, Melbourne and Stuart have interesting downtown areas.
