WE ALL KNOW FT.PIERCE IS POPULAR FOR ITS TURN-PIKE, ESPECILLY IF YOU HEADED FROM SOUTH FLA TO GEORGIA OR SOMEWHERE ELSE OR COMING BACK.PEOPLE THINK THAT FT.PIERCE IS A BUNCH OF RED NECKS...WELL THEY DO RESIDE THERE BUT ITS TRUE THAT A LARGE AMOUNT OF AFRICAN-AMERICANS RESIDE HERE. FT.PIERCE IS A REALLY ROUGH CITY FILLED WITH CRIME AND ETC. ITS ALMOST A 3RD WORLD CITY. WITH THE LOW POPULATION THEY HAVE, THERE CRIME AT TIME WAS HIGHER THAN WEST PALM OR FT. LAUDERDALES ESPECIALLY IN HOMOCIDES. WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT FT.PIERCE? AND DO YOU THINK IT WILL ONE DAY BE AN ATTRACTING CITY LIKE BOCA OR WEST PALM?

Well, Fort Pierce is not in Palm Beach County. It is a rather crappy city though, and the worst in St. Lucie County.

The last photo looks like Lantana.

The picture poster sure did find the worst of Fort Pierce. He sure had to search for those areas. Every city in the U.S. has bad areas. Why did the picture poster feel the need to post the worst when in reality, Fort Pierce isn't a bad little city. I know the area well and know for a fact, Fort Pierce is a safe, friendly and pretty city. I sure hope you don't live in Fort Pierce. If you do, you're doing your home city a huge disservice by posting those pictures, not to mention what you're saying about yourself. If you don't live in F.P., please, stay where you are.

I wouldn't personally want to live in Ft Pierce, but it has some nice things about it. Not the least of which is the inlet. It also has a great farmers market.

I lived in Port St. Lucie for a number of years with Ft. pierce being our "neighbor to the north". I personally wouldn't want to live there but I don't think this thread captures the entire picture of Ft. Pierce. There are high crime innercity areas as well as rural, country locations. Fort Pierce (being one of the oldest cities on the Treasure Coast has an interesting history that's worth looking into.

Fort Pierce is also famous for having been the home of Zora Neale Hurston, it has a beautiful marina and great fishing among other highlights. People who live in the area are well aware of the both the good and bad of that city.

Im not sure why anyone would want to compare it to west palm beach. I think Ft. Pierce, Vero and any of those areas (north) will always remain low key. Purposely. It's not to say that there aren't any attractions, because there are. But I don't believe there's any interest in competing with WPB or Boca.

I have lived in Fort Pierce for the last 4.5 years. We have never had an issue. All cities have less desirable areas and FP is no exception. There are also beautiful homes and neighborhoods. The downtown area is very "old town" with many events and shops. Our newest marina has added to the quality and the "old money" of our town.
The beaches, amazing!

The photos above speak wonders of the town. Looks like a great place to raise a family. It looks like Iraq with them photos. But with that said I do enjoy the downtown area with a couple of restaurants on the water.

The photos above definitely show the worst of FP from what I have seen. There are some beautiful old buildings in town that hopefully will be reclaimed in the future. I love seeing the peacocks and hens along Orange Avenue, along with people going about their business going to and fro from the local markets. I love seeing the random chickens wandering about town. Hearing the music coming from the local shops. On Sunday morning I enjoy seeing people dressed in their sunday best going to church with their families, or sometimes a wedding, or a funeral, as I drive to my job. I like that FP seems in my eyes, to have a lot of small business enterprises. Sure it probably isn't perfect, but no place really is, it is what you make of it. I love to put my car windows down and go along the Drive, some really lovely houses along the river and amazing wildlife. (people not included Ha!)
