Probably not. There are better selection in the S.E. Florida area.

i don't like to criticize any particular area because some people are probably very happy there, but i personally would not go there. you can read the local stories on the web at tcpalm.com and fort pierce certainly has their share of stories.

Ft. Pierce is an economic disaster right new, as is all of St. Lucie County. Their are massive condo projects that are just withering on the vine because of the foreclosures. On top of that, there is a lot of crime in Ft. Pierce.

On the positive side, property is probably very cheap; you can imagine why.

Unless you have a reason to choose Ft. Pierce in particular (like family in the area) I would look elsewhere. They are trying to improve it and downtown has made some strides, but overall there are many otehr areas that I think would be better choices.

Originally from there. My sister, mom and two cousins still live there. I don't even want to visit. They have done some nice things to the downtown area and the beach area is okay but I agree with what everyone else says. Vero is nice from what I remember, Grandma lives there as well as an aunt and uncle. They really like it. Ft Pierce has always been a little rough from what I remember when I was growing up.
